Even vacation comes to an end
What is the worst thing about vacation? Well, going back to work, of course. But, if you want to change that and suffer as little as possible, read our after-holiday shock recovery guide.
You know from your own experience how it is when a week or two of pleasant idling, relaxing and entertainment come to an end – and you have to go back to the treadmill of your everyday life and return to work. There is nothing worse than coming back home from a holiday by the sea and having to think about the dirty clothes that need washing, the post that needs sorting, the groceries you need to buy, the half-dead flowers that need your intensive care after your friend has neglected them for a week despite promising to water them regularly and so on and so forth. What is more, there is the dreary vision of a full e-mail inbox at work and the hours of overtime in which you will be catching up with what you have been asked to do while you were away.
A simple piece of advice – arrange your return from holidays so that you have one extra day to do all the things mentioned above. Most importantly, do not fret over tidying up, cooking a lunch or baking a cake. Let your holiday pass away slowly from you because otherwise you will have lost all the energy you have gained on holiday. If you had been foresighted enough as to solve everything at work before you went away on your holiday, all the better for you. Going back to work will be a lot more pleasant and your holidays will have been free of dark afterthoughts about all the unfinished jobs.
It is quite possible that you may have got used to a very different routine while you were on holiday. Staying up until early in the morning and sleeping until the lunch hour is unfortunately a far cry from everyday reality. You will now need to get used to starting work in the morning and going to bed early. You would be losing your precious energy if you stayed up too late.
If you take our advice on how to make your return to work a happier one, you can rest assured that the energy you have gained on your holiday will last you a couple more weeks.
